Gardner Light Traps Organic Pesticides
Gardner Manufacturing, a metal fabrication company, was founded in 1928 at Horicon, Wisconsin. In 1938, Gardner was awarded the first patent for an insect electrocutor. In the next three decades Gardner refined the technology, incorporating the principle of light attraction and building a variety of electrocutors to solve the flying insect problems for a wide spectrum of American businesses.

In the decade 1960-1970, some Gardner employees and distributors left to manufacture insect traps on their own. Among these were Gardner International, now Insectocutor, and Don Gilbert, now doing business as Don Gilbert Enterprises.

Competition being the incentive it is, light traps evolved rapidly, encompassing glueboard units, hybrid units and others. In this period Gardner has maintained its lead, enlisting the help of USDA, various universities, and rigorous in-house testing to remain the prime producer of these products. Such nationally known corporations as Wal-Mart, Orkin, Publix, Kroger, Albertson's and others rely exclusively on Gardner for solutions to the insidious problem of flying insects.
